We see Paris… we see France?
It’s that time again. Simmers have barely gotten their heads around the Eco Lifestyle Expansion Pack released early in June – and we’re already onto the next rumour.
We know that The Sims 4 six month road map revealed earlier in the year that the franchise is due to release an expansion (tick), stuff pack (knitting) and a game pack in the coming months.
We say knitting with a question mark because who knows what surprises The Sims 4 team might be throwing at us. We know that the Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack is in its final phase, but expect the unexpected, right?
The latest rumour is around the new game pack, something the team had said is something they “have never done before”. Many had hoped that this would mean a farming type pack, but the rumours suggest otherwise.
Over on the forums, Simmers have been theorising and speculating that there could be a French-style game pack coming.
The Sims Free Play already has French-style gameplay, so there might be some ideas lurking in there. One of the features of that is the ability to “unlock a gallery”. More on how that joins the dots in a bit.
The Sims 4: Paris and romance style pack coming?
A France style pack with Paris as a sort of “destination world” could make sense from a gameplay perspective, by adding an attraction system and general complexities to Sims relationships.
It’s not clear exactly what about such a pack would constitute a “major first” for The Sims team, though.
Or does it? Remember what we were saying about the gallery feature in the Sims Free Play? What if the first is the ability to own and manage an art gallery – complete with villains after your artefacts?
A very recent survey (April 2020) did include a question about both love and romance as well as “heists”.
The description for the heists read as follows:
Whether you’re an aspiring Debbie or Danny Ocean, build your team to seek out and recover the stolen artifacts to return them to their rightful owners. Can you execute the perfect plan, or will your team end up in the slammer?
The Sims 4 team have also said that they are “thinking about burglars” making a return to the game.
Might the cats that were on the six-month road map for the upcoming Sims 4 packs be an ever-so-subtle hint at what’s coming?
One user certainly thought so, writing on the forum:
The idea of the new pack taking place in Paris just connected some dots for me…
I instantly thought of the movie to Catch a Thief, which is a romantic thriller taking place in France… and its main character is a CAT BURGLAR.
Ooh, la, la!
We’ll keep you in the loop
